I can’t say I’ve never been a dupe to gimmicks before. Vanity is an astonishingly profitable market full of consumers whose desperation outweighs their common sense. A particularly telling example was the price difference between ephedrine based fat burners and bronchodilators, between products marketed to treat weight and the latter to treat a medical condition (not that being overweight doesn’t have health implications). They were, in effect, paying you to add mucus thinners.
I’ve never bought any either – if nothing else, most of ‘em are cheesy and poorly constructed.
I’m ok with vanity, but beyond certain cosmetics, there aren’t very many “get pretty quick” measures you can take that aren’t hideously expensive and don’t require the services of skilled professionals (think cosmetic surgeons, dermatologists and estheticians). In the end, a good diet and workout program, plus a few relatively simple skin care products will take you farther than these cheap-o gimmicks ever could.
