Gluttony Isn’t Patriotic
Quite honestly, I find ”competitions” like the “Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest” to be utterly revolting. I can’t believe why ESPN would feature it, much less treat it like a regular sporting event.
But that’s just my opinion. Obviously, the crowd that turned out to watch Joey Chestnut set a new world record think differently.

I’m with you, Elissa – this is revolting. And yes, the fact that its treated as a sporting evident is ludicrous. However, what I find most disturbing is that events like this can be celebrated when so many in the world don’t have enough to eat. Where’s the shame?
