LOL – the “SlimShots” truly are ridiculous, but mostly because of the price. Oddly enough, the main ingredient, a.k.a. “Olibra” (also known now as “Fabuless”) actually does have some research behind it as an appetite suppressant that can be used to replace milk fat in functional foods such as yogurt. So when the author writes about the product:
“I’m not sure how they came about those numbers, by I suspect is was not through the rigors of a double-blind, placebo study.”
It’s obvious that he didn’t do any particular studying himself!
Sometimes you gotta give the devil his due…SlimShots is horribly overpriced, but I don’t think the product itself could be described as “ridiculous.” I’ve seen worse.

I didn’t do more than glance at the SlimShots, but you’re right… there is some clinical evidence on the core ingredient (as an example, see International Journal of Obesity (2001) 25, 1487-1496).
Some nutritional experts paint all supplements with the same “it doesn’t work” brush, when most of the time, that just doesn’t cut it. Frankly, saying something doesn’t work without taking the time to quantify one’s argument is worthless. It’s no more effective (or helpful) than the retailer who claims their product does work, but fails to provide any clinical evidence that it does.
Great point!
P.S. I’m still gonna pass on the lip gloss!

Wow how weird. JUST LAST NIGHT I was at my friend’s tanning salon and she says
“You think this stuff works?”
and handed me a tiny bottle of Fiji Blend Lip Gloss with Appetite Inhibitors. I gotta say it didn’t taste terrible.. but the claims are bogus. I do prefer a lot of their lotions over other brands… but I think I’ll pass on this stuff…
Check it out:

Well, it does have sunscreen in it, so it’s not all bogus…but then again, so does a nice, inexpensive tube of Blistex.
